Alexis M. Pelosi is an attorney in the Real Estate, Land Use, Natural Resources and Environmental Practice Group in the firm's San Francisco office.

Areas of Practice

Ms. Pelosi’s practice emphasizes land use and environmental matters, including obtaining development entitlements, compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and administrative proceedings and litigation.

Ms. Pelosi has worked on a wide variety of land use projects throughout California, including retail developments/shopping centers, office and industrial parks, residential, mixed use developments, and long-range strategic plans for developers.  As part of her practice related to CEQA compliance, Ms. Pelosi has advised on the legal adequacy of numerous EIRs for projects throughout California.

Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Ms. Pelosi was an associate and then a contract attorney in the Real Estate practice group at Steefel, Levitt & Weiss.  She also was an Assistant City Attorney in the City of Oakland working on the Real Estate Advisory Team that advised the City Council, Planning Commission and various city agencies on land use and environmental matters.  Ms. Pelosi started her career at Morrison & Foerster in the Land Use and Environmental Law practice group.

After graduating from U.C. Davis, Ms. Pelosi worked at the State of California Resources Agency in Sacramento implementing an economic development program to help loggers who were displaced after the listing of the Spotted Owl as an endangered species.  She then moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as a legislative assistant focusing on fisheries and natural resources issues, among others.
