Mark Riera is a partner in the Litigation and Antitrust Department in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Riera represents businesses in complex litigation matters in the federal and state court systems, with emphasis on wage and hour class actions, defense of employment discrimination and harassment actions, and trade regulation matters. Mr. Riera's practice involves substantial trial and appellate work in a broad array of industries, including banking, transportation, communications, petroleum marketing and refining, franchising, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, infant foods, hair care products, and securities. Mr. Riera has represented national restaurant chains, national retail chains, and engineering firms in class actions and individual actions challenging the propriety of job classifications exempt from payment of overtime wages under state and federal law.

Representative clients include MCI Telecommunications Corporation, Federal Express Corporation, Mobil Oil Corporation, Winston Tire Company, Denny's Restaurants, Inc., Ralston Purina Company, Mobil Chemical Company, Inc., Atlantic Richfield Company, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Inc., the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, Bank of America NT & SA, The Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Ltd., Colonial National Bank, and The Trylon Corporation.
