Mr. McCarthy is an associate in the White Collar and Civil Fraud Defense Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

Areas of Practice

Mr. McCarthy has represented Fortune 500 and international corporate clients in complex civil litigation in U.S. courts and in international dispute resolution proceedings, including both multinational litigation and international arbitral proceedings. He has litigated matters involving mass torts, securities and accounting fraud, antitrust violations, Alien Tort Statute claims, RICO claims, and intellectual property disputes, as well as general commercial and financial disputes, bankruptcy matters, and executive employment disputes.

Mr. McCarthy has also represented U.S. and international corporate clients, as well as individual clients, in internal investigations, white collar criminal proceedings, regulatory enforcement matters, and extradition proceedings, including dealings with the SEC and state regulators, the Department of Justice and the FBI, the Department of State, and the IRS. He has worked with major accounting firms on internal investigations of issues arising among banks, public companies, and privately held entities.

Recently, he has represented and defended an international financial group in multijurisdictional litigation against claims of terrorism financing; a Fortune 100 manufacturing company in price-fixing litigation; the former President of the Republic of Korea in an Alien Tort Statute case; companies and individuals from Europe, Asia and the Middle East/North Africa region in various commercial disputes and regulatory enforcement matters; several individuals in connection with an SEC investigation; a Fortune 100 company in an Alien Tort Statute case arising out of alleged labor abuses in Colombia; and the unofficial committee of energy trading creditors in the Enron bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. McCarthy has also represented banks, corporate clients, and institutional clients in cases involving tax matters, Native American law, and election law.

Mr. McCarthy has also recently represented the former Bosnian Ambassador to the United Nations, on a pro bono basis, in extradition proceedings.
