Mr. Xudong Ni is a Special Counsel in the firm's Shanghai office.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Ni is well educated in both US and China’s legal systems with extensive knowledge and experiences in all aspects of Chinese law. He regularly counsels clients in the areas of corporate transactions, China foreign investments law, China banking and financial law, international trade, international arbitration and commercial litigation in China.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ni worked for one of the leading Chinese law firms in Beijing.  Also, Mr. Ni worked in a business strategic consulting firm in Washington D.C., where he advised domestic and foreign companies on developing business strategies in China.   Mr. Ni has more than 10 years of extensive experience with foreign direct investment and infrastructure investment.  Mr. Ni represents the Chinese government as well as domestic and overseas clients on all areas of foreign direct investment projects, including feasibility study, international tendering, bidding, contract negotiation, and governmental approval.

Representative Matters

Advised on China related commercial litigation strategy for a major U.S. bank.

Advised a Chinese provincial government on the investment strategy of China's first potential privately owned airport.

Provided advice for the Civil Aviation Administration of China on airports infrastructure planning in the Yangtze Triangle Region sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

Provided business and regulatory advice for Las Vegas McCarran International Airport air services project for attracting Chinese airlines to provide direct flights from China.

Provided strategic legal advice on the commercialization of the China Hebei province urban water supply systems sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, including: China foreign investment law analysis, private sector participation (PSP) and public and private partnership (PPP) options analysis and recommendations, regulatory law and environment law analysis.

Represented a multinational company in an international trade dispute and argued at The Supreme People’s Court of People’s Republic of China.

Represented a provincial government in negotiating the concession agreement of the first Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project in China.

Conducted several state-owned Chinese banks' guaranteed commercial transaction litigations.
