William Fleishhacker is an attorney in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Practice Group in Sheppard Mullin's San Francisco office.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Fleishhacker's practice focuses on representing clients on all aspects of the land use approval and environment review process. He has assisted clients with a broad variety of real estate development projects, including retail shopping centers, residential developments, and office buildings. He has worked on aspects of significant real estate projects such as Mission Bay, the San Francisco Giants downtown ballpark, and the Lucasfilm Digital Arts Center in the Presidio.

Mr. Fleishhacker has experience with local zoning regulations, the California Environmental Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Subdivision Map Act, the Clean Water Act, and other federal, state and local laws affecting the development of real property. He has defended clients in litigation challenging the adequacy of land use approvals, and has also advised clients in litigation and compliance under California's Proposition 65, and other federal and state environmental laws.

Mr. Fleishhacker was a Deputy City Attorney with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office from 1996 to 1998, where he worked as a part of the office’s land use and development team. His practice included advising City agencies on planning, zoning and real estate matters, including appearances on behalf of the City in trial and appellate courts on a variety of matters involving land use and real estate issues. In 1999, Mr. Fleishhacker joined Morrison & Foerster's San Francisco office as a part of the Land Use and Environmental Law Practice Group. Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Fleishhacker was an associate with Steefel, Levitt & Weiss practicing in the Land Use and Real Estate Group.
