Pierce Selwood is a senior litigation partner in the Litigation and Antitrust Department in the firm's Los Angeles office.
Areas of Practice
Mr. Selwood's practice focuses on civil business litigation in both state and federal courts. He has represented clients in litigation involving insurance and workers' compensation, financial institutions, title insurance, commercial and manufacturing disputes. Mr. Selwood specializes in class action cases, protracted commercial disputes, bad faith insurance litigation, consumer defense cases, and court cases involving administrative regulation. His practice includes counseling on industry problems or problems of particular clients. His practice also involves litigation review on mergers or refinancings as part of due diligence, counseling on preventive law, counseling on strategy in complex litigation, and counseling foreign clients regarding litigation in California.
He has had extensive jury and non-jury trial experience in state and federal courts and has argued appeals before the California Courts of Appeal, the California Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Selwood also represents clients in resolving business disputes through arbitration and mediation.
Mr. Selwood chaired the firm's Litigation Department from 1985 to 1990 and served as judge pro tem on several occasions.
