Ken Carl is of counsel in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Practice Group and the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Areas of Practice

Ken has over 35 years of experience representing clients in financing, real estate and corporate transactions.

In the finance area, he works on real property secured, personal property secured and unsecured financing transactions of various types, including syndicated loan transactions, single lender transactions, intercreditor arrangements, letters of credit, work-outs, foreclosures and other types of remedy enforcement. These transactions involved borrowers from diverse industries, ranging from aerospace to homebuilding and self-storage to food distribution.

Ken’s lender clients range from privately held companies to major U.S. and international banks. His borrower clients range from single owner corporations and limited liability companies to several SEC reporting companies. Ken has represented the assuming borrower in more than 70 CMBS and insurance company loan assumptions.

On the corporate side, Ken has helped his clients form entities such as corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships, and he advises them with their ongoing activities. He often works on bank regulatory matters and has represented clients before U.S. Federal, California and New York bank regulatory authorities. Ken was involved in all aspects of over 20 successful bank acquisition transactions, both on the buyer side and the seller side.

Ken is a member of the California Lawyers Association Opinions Committee Steering Committee and its former Co-Chair.
