Mr. Marum is an associate in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in the firm's San Diego and Del Mar Offices.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Marum practices in the areas of business bankruptcy law and commercial litigation. He has experience representing parties involved in complex insolvency proceedings, including representing debtors, creditors and other parties in pre-bankruptcy litigation, workout negotiations and bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Marum also has a wide variety of experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in disputes in state and federal court, including claims involving breach of contract, real property, unfair business practices, business torts, federal banking laws and regulations and borrower litigation against lenders.

  • Represented large group of franchisees in Pat & Oscar's bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Special litigation counsel for the Debtor in in re 500 West Broadway, LP pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California.
  • Counsel to the court-appointed receiver in MTGLQ Investors, L.P. v. Alameda Chemical & Scientific, Inc. et al pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
  • Lead attorney representing a major originator and holder of option-arm and negative amortization loans in numerous borrower lawsuits.
  • Obtained stay relief for secured creditor to foreclose a $19 million construction loan.
  • Lead associate on a team of Sheppard Mullin attorneys that obtained $78 million in provisional relief on behalf of a consumer electronics manufacturer against one of its buyers.
  • Lead associate on a team of Sheppard Mullin attorneys representing a creditor with a claim against the debtors of more than $115 million.
  • Obtained sua sponte summary judgment for a client on fraudulent transfer claims asserted by one of a debtor’s creditors.
  • Negotiated and documented workouts of numerous multi-million dollar construction loans for a major lender.
