Beth Scheel is a contract attorney in the Labor and Employment Department in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Areas of Practice

Ms. Scheel represents employers in a broad range of labor and employment disputes involving both state and federal law.  Her experience includes defending employers against claims of discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, age, gender, national origin, disability and religion; wage and hour claims under the FLSA and California law; unfair competition claims; and common law claims including retaliatory discharge in violation of public policy, defamation, breach of contract, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.  Ms. Scheel has experience in all facets of the litigation process, including taking and defending depositions, drafting motions for summary judgment, trial preparation and appellate practice.  In addition, Ms. Scheel represents the interests of management in grievance proceedings and arbitrations held pursuant to private collective bargaining agreements.   Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin in May 1999, Ms. Scheel was associated with Fox & Grove, in Chicago, Illinois, where she also practiced labor and employment law.
