John R. Simon

John Simon is Of Counsel in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Practice Group in the firm's Orange County office.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Simon specializes in real estate development and related work with particular emphasis on purchase and sale transactions, real estate partnerships, limited liability companies and other partnership arrangements, and ground leases.  Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Simon was a partner at Cox, Castle and Nicholson.

Residential Building Industry Experience

Mr. Simon has represented residential builders and developers for over 30 years.  The following are among the residential builders and developers Mr. Simon has represented: Westlake Village, Watt Industries, Levitt, Boise Cascade Building Co., Transamerica, Pulte, Shea Homes, Citation Homes, Woodcrest, Barclay Development Company (Richard Barclay), Kaufman and Broad, Fieldstone, Tava Development Co., Recreactions (RGC), Stratham Homes and Pacific Communities Builder. 

Mr. Simon was acting general counsel for Boise Cascade Realty Group from 1973 to 1976. 

Mr. Simon was lead counsel for the development of the Village of Heritage, a master planned community in Fontana, California.
