Dr. Capps is a registered patent attorney. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinions, counseling, and licensing for the pharmaceutical, life science, and chemical industries. He has represented clients in a range of technological fields, including pharmaceutical small molecules, formulations, and methods, biotechnology, medical devices, and polymers.
Before law school, Dr. Capps was a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined applications directed to therapeutic methods, pharmaceutical compounds and formulations, and cosmetic compositions. He also previously conducted graduate research on the development of new therapeutics employing both combinatorial chemistry and traditional medicinal chemistry strategies, and undergraduate research on the synthesis of carbohydrates and glycopeptides.
