Ms. Johnson is an associate in the Labor and Employment and Business Trials Practice Groups in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
Areas of Practice
Ms. Johnson has a wide-ranging practice, which includes labor and employment matters, as well as commercial litigation and criminal defense. She has significant experience representing companies throughout the arbitration process and in the pre-trial stages of litigation in state and federal court, and representing individuals in federal criminal investigations. Ms. Johnson routinely represents companies before various administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Labor, National Mediation Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Ms. Johnson regularly assists individuals and companies in drafting and negotiating employment, severance, non-competition, and non-solicitation agreements, as well as by drafting employee handbooks in compliance with state and federal law. She routinely counsels companies regarding the implications of, and compliance with, various federal laws, including the National Labor Relations Act, the Railway Labor Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as lobbying disclosure and campaign finance laws. Ms. Johnson also regularly advises clients regarding the labor and employment aspects of various corporate transactions.
Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Johnson worked in the United States Senate on a range of issues, including the judiciary, civil rights, and telecommunications. In addition to her legal work, Ms. Johnson is a member of Sheppard Mullin’s Recruiting Committee and the Associate Committee.
