Overview:
California is committing vast new funding sources to build up infrastructure over the next ten years. The 2006 Infrastructure Bond Package, passed by California voters, provides $43 billion for diverse projects from highways and transit systems to schools and levees. The recent School Bond Acts have provided billions more for construction and remodeling of school buildings throughout the State. Most recently, Governor Schwarzenegger proposed an additional $43 billion bond issue for reservoirs, colleges and prisons for the 2008 General Election Ballot. More public infrastructure work is certain to result in more disputes and more claims on public works projects. The speakers will discuss current trends in construction claims law in California, and will suggest practical methods of dispute resolution.
