Sheppard Mullin Awards Paul Seeley the 2012 Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year

January 30, 2013

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP announced today that it has awarded associate Paul Seeley the firm's 2012 Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.  This award honors and recognizes the important community service work done by Sheppard Mullin attorneys.  Seeley, a 2007 graduate of University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office and a member of Sheppard Mullin's Business Trial practice group.

Seeley has been the coordinator leading Sheppard Mullin’s Public Counsel Adoption Day efforts since January 2009.  Through this adoption program, the firm’s attorneys have helped to complete hundreds of adoptions, doing an invaluable service for new parents and their new children.

Seeley remarked, "I am truly honored that the firm would recognize me for my adoption efforts. Sheppard has been, and continues to be, a firm that encourages associates to take the initiative and seize these opportunities.  I will always be grateful for that encouragement because few things are better than having clients shake your hand and, with tears in their eyes, thank you for making their lives better."

Partner Dan Brown, Sheppard Mullin's pro bono committee chair, commented, “Pro bono is one of the finest traditions of our profession.  Our work through Public Counsel Adoption Day has offered our attorneys an excellent opportunity to serve the community, while achieving personal fulfillment and professional development. We are very thankful to Paul who, for the past four years, has essentially done whatever needs to be done to help complete our adoption cases on schedule and has done an amazing job leading the firm’s adoption efforts.”

Sheppard Mullin's Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award is the firm's highest pro bono honor, and was implemented to recognize and reward the important community service work done by Sheppard Mullin attorneys.  This is the inaugural year that the firm has given the award in the name of Bob Gerber, named in his honor and memory.  Gerber was the founder of Sheppard Mullin’s pro bono program and its leader for over a decade.
