Sheppard Mullin's Communications team provides experienced counsel in every sector of the communications industry, including wireline and wireless carriers, radio and television broadcasters, multichannel video programming distributors, equipment manufacturers and satellite companies.
We represent clients before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), state regulatory agencies, federal and state courts, Congress and governmental ministries. We provide advice on regulatory issues ranging from broad policy questions, to applications for approvals, to compliance with detailed technical rules. Our communications attorneys also represent clients in court and agency litigation over various local competition matters such as interconnection, unbundled network elements (UNEs), universal service, inter-carrier compensation, and pole attachment disputes. We have counseled clients and have helped shape policy governing ownership of media outlets, the regulatory classification of broadband Internet access providers, and the digital television transition. Lastly, we provide advice regarding communications business ventures, copyright laws, and the legal and business aspects of the production, licensing, and distribution of programs for television and related media.
