Overview

Sheppard Mullin's appellate team takes a smart and practical approach to appeals. Our skilled appellate attorneys have extensive experience handling numerous appeals, writ proceedings and motions in both state and federal courts across California and nationwide. The team is led by two Certified Specialists in Appellate Law, one of whom is also an elected member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

We collaborate with our clients and trial lawyers during all phases of proceedings. We actively consult with our litigators during trial court proceedings, providing insights into record preservation, post-trial motions and strategic considerations. This allows us to offer clients a comprehensive evaluation of whether pursuing an appeal makes sense, and if so, how best to win it.

In every case we manage, our objective is to provide briefs that are not only clear and concise, but also effective in securing victories for our clients. With this well-rounded approach, we are committed to achieving the best possible outcome in every appeal we undertake.

Our attorneys handle appeals in nearly every civil practice area affecting both businesses and individuals. This includes commercial litigation, insurance litigation, constitutional litigation, intellectual property litigation, probate litigation, and specialized state and federal statutory proceedings, such as administrative review and bankruptcy. We are also particularly adept in seeking discretionary review in the California Supreme Court and the federal Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Our dedication to excellence is reflected in our active participation in esteemed legal bodies such as California’s Academy of Appellate Lawyers and the State Bar Appellate Courts Committee.

Our seasoned team of appellate attorneys stands ready to deliver exceptional expertise and commitment to securing successful outcomes for our clients, regardless of the complexities and challenges they may face.
