Outsourcing Expert Continues Firm's Recent Transactional Practice Growth
03.28.2011

Shaalu Mehra has joined the Palo Alto office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the firm's Corporate practice group.  Mehra most recently was a partner at Perkins Coie in Silicon Valley, where he chaired that firm's Outsourcing practice and its India practice.

Mehra counsels public and private companies on complex corporate and technology transactions, with particular focus on outsourcing, intellectual property licensing, and venture finance.  He was recognized in 2010 as one of the top twenty attorneys in California under 40 by the Daily Journal, and has been recognized in the Chambers USA since 2006 as a leader in the field of IT and Outsourcing.

"Shaalu is one of the top outsourcing attorneys in the country.  We are thrilled he will be leading our international firmwide outsourcing practice.  Added to our existing capabilities he will enable us to provide unparalleled outsourcing representation to our clients," said Guy Halgren, chairman of Sheppard Mullin.

Commented Mehra, "Sheppard Mullin is a top-notch full service firm with a strong California presence.  I am impressed by the firm's recent growth and success, and look forward to specifically expanding Sheppard Mullin's outsourcing practice with my former colleague Riaz Karamali.  I am also excited to help continue the firm's expansion of its emerging growth/VC practice in Silicon Valley."

"I have known Shaalu for years and look forward to practicing with him.  His skills, energy and entrepreneurial spirit are an excellent fit for the office and the firm," said Marc Sockol, managing partner of the Silicon Valley office.

Mehra received a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1998, a M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Michigan in 1995 and a B.S. in Physics from University of Notre Dame in 1992.

Earlier this month two additional partners joined Sheppard Mullin's Corporate practice group: Shon Glusky and Roger Klein.  Glusky joined the firm's New York office from Bingham McCutchen and Klein joined the firm in Washington D.C. from Howrey.

Sheppard Mullin has more than 100 attorneys based in its Bay Area offices (San Francisco and Palo Alto).  The firm's Corporate practice group includes more than 100 attorneys firmwide.  Sheppard Mullin has been again recognized this year by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals as among the World's Best Outsourcing Advisors.
