Sheppard Mullin Re-Elects Chairman Guy Halgren to Sixth Term

Management's Success Tied to Strategic Expansion, Client Service and Fostering Entrepreneurial Culture
04.15.2016

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that the Firm's Chairman of the Executive Committee, Guy N. Halgren, has been re-elected to a sixth consecutive, three-year term leading the Firm.  Halgren was first elected to this management role in 2001.  Halgren is the first Sheppard Mullin Chairman to hold this position for more than three terms, and he ran unopposed.

"Our partnership is very fortunate to have Guy at the helm for another term.  He's smart, fair, forward-thinking and focused on client service," said Lawrence M. Braun, Los Angeles-based Corporate Partner and member of the Executive Committee.  "Guy has been instrumental in growing the Firm in terms of size, locations, and practice areas, while preserving Sheppard Mullin's tradition of collegiality and entrepreneurship.  He continues to focus on adding value for our clients through alternative staffing, alternative fee agreements, increased use of knowledge management and technology.”

Sheppard Mullin has experienced significant growth in the past fifteen years.  Under Halgren’s leadership, the number of attorneys has increased from 292 to 770, and Firm revenues have increased from $149 million to $560 million.  During the same time period, the Firm has geographically grown from a California firm, to a national firm with locations in Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C., to an international firm with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Brussels and London.  The Firm currently has a total of fifteen offices, having significantly expanded from four locations in 2001.

Practice area growth has occurred in a number of ways, including last year’s formation of a premier EU competition practice in the Firm’s Brussels office and the ongoing growth of our Healthcare, Energy and Cybersecurity Teams.

Halgren commented:  “I am honored to have been reelected and excited at the prospect of leading the Firm to even greater heights, teaming with my Vice Chair Jon Newby and Managing Partner Robert Beall.”
