Four Sheppard Mullin Attorneys Elected to Partnership

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP announced today that the Firm has elevated four of its attorneys to partner. The four new partners are Brian M. Daucher, John E. Friedrichs, Frank J. Johnson, Jr., and Jeffrey K. Rehfeld.

"Each of these attorneys will be a strong addition to the partnership. They exemplify what Sheppard Mullin is all about—providing the highest quality legal work, superior client service, and exceptional value," said Guy Halgren, Chair of the Executive Committee.

Brian Daucher, in the Business Trial Practice Group and the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Orange County, specializes in litigation and intellectual property with emphasis in trademark, copyright, trade dress, business tort, and trade secret litigation. He also prosecutes and defends general business litigation matters in a wide range of areas. Mr. Daucher is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Orange County Patent Law Association. He is licensed in California and admitted to practice before the Central District, Southern District, and Eastern District of California. Mr. Daucher received his A.B. from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude, in 1991 and his J.D. from Duke University, high honors, in 1994.

John Friedrichs, in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in Los Angeles, specializes in commercial lending transactions, including secured and unsecured, single-lender and syndicated acquisition and working capital credit facilities and loan workouts. Mr. Friedrichs is admitted to the California State Bar, and maintains memberships in the Financial Lawyers Conference, the Business Law Section of the California State Bar and the Business and Corporations Law and the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Sections of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Tulane University in 1990 and his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley in 1994.

Frank Johnson, in the Construction, Environmental, Real Estate & Land Use Litigation Practice Group, also works within the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Del Mar. He has extensive experience in all aspects of business trial practice. Mr. Johnson has represented and counseled a number of clients with intellectual property issues such as counterfeit products, trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, patents, computers, and similar issues relating to the law surrounding the World Wide Web. He is licensed in California and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Johnson is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the State Bar of California, and is Vice Chair of the Technology Committee, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, from San Diego State University in 1990 and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1994.

Jeff Rehfeld, in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in San Francisco, specializes in commercial bankruptcy, representing debtors, creditors, and creditors' committees. He is experienced in all aspects of business bankruptcy proceedings, including confirmation of plans, relief from stay, contested and consensual plan confirmation, rejection and assumption of leases and other executory contracts, and adversary proceeding litigation. Mr. Rehfeld also has experience in the purchase and sale of assets of companies both in and out of bankruptcy and with loan workouts. He is admitted to practice before all California and Minnesota state and federal courts. Mr. Rehfeld a member of the State Bar of California, the State Bar of Minnesota, the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Northern California Bankruptcy Forum. He received his B.B.A from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1991 and his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
