Braun left the firm, and the practice of law, in November 1999 to pursue investment banking with Barrington Associates, a premier M&A boutique. He had joined Sheppard Mullin following his graduation from law school in 1981. His areas of practice included (and will include) representation of both public and private companies in general corporate law, corporate finance and securities law, mergers and acquisitions, business start-ups, contractual matters and general business counseling. During his first stint with Sheppard Mullin, Braun led over 100 M&A transactions to successful conclusions. Braun previously served as Chair of Sheppard Mullin’s Corporate and Securities Department for five years.

"I am returning to legal practice because I enjoyed practicing law and solving complicated issues with a practical approach," Braun said. "My legal and business experience, my education, and my stint as an investment banker, will be invaluable to our clients. Once I made the decision, Sheppard Mullin was the only place to go. At Sheppard Mullin, I can serve our clients along with our great lawyers and my many good friends again."

"I am proud of my time with Barrington Associates," Braun added. "It is a great firm with tremendous people."

Braun will assume the reins as Chair of Sheppard Mullin’s Corporate and Securities Department from Jerry Slaby and Richard Kintz, who have served as co-Chairs for the past six months. Slaby has been Chair or co-Chair of the department for the past two years.

"The fact that Larry wanted to return to the law should remind us of the real mission of the legal profession: to build relationships of trust with clients while resolving their problems," observed Guy Halgren, Chair of Sheppard Mullin’s Executive Committee. "The fact that Larry wanted to return to Sheppard Mullin really says a lot about the friendships Larry made while he was here as well as all our firm has to offer. We are elated to have an attorney of Larry’s caliber in the mix once again."

A former member of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar’s Business and Corporations Law Section, Braun completed his undergraduate work at Rutgers University before earning his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.
