Overview
Kazim Naqvi is an associate in the Business Trial and Intellectual Property Practice Groups in the firm's Century City office. He serves as the leading member of the firm’s Trade Secrets Team, office lead associate for the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative, and a member of the Century City office’s recruiting committee.
Areas of Practice
Clients turn to Kazim to handle their most complex business and IP disputes, and Kazim prides himself in doing whatever it takes to achieve his clients’ business goals in an efficient manner.
Kazim’s practice focuses on trade secret, patent and trademark litigation, as well as breach of contract and business tort cases. He has a particular expertise in prosecuting and defending claims brought under the California Uniform Trade Secrets Act (CUTSA) and federal Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA).
Kazim is adept at managing all aspects of complex, high-stakes litigation matters, including developing and executing trial strategy, case management, large-scale discovery (including ESI and data preservation issues), taking depositions, working with expert and fact witnesses, and preparing and arguing substantive motions. He has substantial trial experience, including acting as lead associate on a high-profile, month-long patent infringement and damages trial where he helped secure for his client the largest ever patent infringement award against the United States Government. Kazim also regularly counsels clients on how to protect their sensitive and proprietary information and technology. Kazim’s clients include businesses and individuals in the manufacturing, aerospace, restaurant, fintech, medtech, virtual reality, and creative agency industries.
Outside of the litigation context, Kazim routinely serves as outside general counsel for emerging growth and venture-backed companies regarding general corporate structuring, venture financing, and intellectual property protection.
Kazim also maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on children’s adoption cases with the Alliance for Children’s Rights.
