"Kirt adds significantly to our expertise in life sciences, with a strong profile in technology and clean tech transactions.  He is the latest of several recent Corporate partners to join our Del Mar office, which has become a dealmaking powerhouse.  We continue to grow signature groups like Corporate and Life Sciences, and Kirt's industry knowledge and experience is of great value to clients," said Guy Halgren, chairman of the firm.

Commented Shuldberg, "Joining Sheppard Mullin provides an exciting opportunity to return to San Diego and continue to practice with former Heller colleagues.  I am impressed by the depth and breadth of Sheppard Mullin’s Corporate practice group and life sciences team, as well the firm's formidable position in the San Diego legal market."

Shuldberg represents several of California’s most prominent venture capital funds, as well as prominent venture capital funds from Europe and Asia, in their investments in life sciences, clean technology and technology companies.  Venture capital funds he has represented include Benchmark Capital, BB Biotech, Enterprise Partners, Forward Ventures, JAFCO Life Sciences, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Mission Ventures, Prism Ventureworks and Technology Partners.  Shuldberg's life sciences, medical device and clean technology engagements include companies that operate in the following areas: biofuels, biopharmaceuticals, discovery informatics, drug discovery tools and services, energy storage, genetic research kits, molecular diagnostics, personalized diagnostics, proteomics, resorbable coronary stents, and stem cell research.

Shuldberg received a J.D. from University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1997 and a B.S., magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University in 1992.  Prior to entering law school, he was a senior accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick.
