Vicky Tavitian is the Principal Land Use Planner of the Real Estate, Energy, Land Use & Environmental Practice Group in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Areas of Practice
With over 10 years of experience in urban planning, Vicky’s background spans the range of planning, policy, project management and design, including navigating clients through the complex land use entitlement process, reviewing and advising on site design, and drafting public policy within the public and private sectors.
Vicky leads complex development projects from inception through approvals, including several mixed-use projects in the Downtown, Hollywood, and San Fernando Valley areas. Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Vicky worked as a land use project manager at Mayer Brown where she oversaw the project management of major mixed-use projects, including the proposed construction of the new 16-story Hilton Los Angeles 400-key hotel in Universal City. Vicky also represented Mitsui Fudosan America with the entitlement of a 50-story mixed-use tower with 580 residential units and ground floor commercial space in Downtown Los Angeles. She in also represented Harvard-Westlake School in obtaining entitlements for the Harvard-Westlake River Park campus, which involves the redevelopment of the 16-acre Weddington Golf & Tennis property in Studio City along the Los Angeles River.
Previously, Vicky also served as a city planner and council liaison for the City of Los Angeles’ Department of City Planning, working on numerous high-profile projects across Los Angeles. Her work included implementing specific plans and policies, presenting at public hearings, serving as the main contact point for all Los Angeles Council Districts and providing strategic input to the Department’s Executive Office on the implementation of new policies and ordinances.
Vicky is skilled in evaluating and solving complex planning issues and building credible and trustworthy relationships with City departments, key community stakeholders, constituents and developers to craft successful land use projects that receive unanimous support.
