Employers must pay attention to new laws, impact on workplace

In a three-part article series for Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Sheppard Mullin Labor and Employment attorneys Kevin Cloutier, Shawn Fabian and Mikela Sutrina cover several new laws that will impact Illinois employers in 2020.  Part 1 of the series summaries new laws that became went into effect on January 1, 2020: amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Video Interview Act that requires employers to obtain consent from applicants before using AI to evaluate an applicant’s video interview and qualifications, the expansion of the Economic Security and Safety Act which now includes gender violence, and the newly implemented Workplace Transparency Act that prohibits certain provisions in employment agreements and separation agreements.
