Labor & Employment Partner Garen Dodge Joins Sheppard Mullin Washington, D.C.

07.19.2016

Garen E. Dodge has joined the Washington, D.C. office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the Labor and Employment practice group.  Dodge joins from Jackson Lewis P.C. where he led the firm’s Government Relations practice and was co-coordinator of the firm’s Government Contracts and Background Checks industry groups.

Dodge’s practice covers the spectrum of labor and employment litigation. He represents clients before state and federal court on issues involving privacy, discrimination, background checks, harassment, wage and hour, and occupational safety and health.  Throughout his career, he has served as counsel of record in seminal U.S. Supreme Court and appellate cases as Amicus Curiae.  In addition to litigating cases, Dodge advises clients on matters relating to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act, assists companies in establishing workplace programs, and trains supervisors and employees on effective personnel policies.  He has also testified before agencies such as the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

"Garen is a renowned labor and employment law attorney with a national reputation," said Guy N. Halgren, Chairman of the firm. "He has tremendous experience handling complex litigations on a wide range of employment matters, which will be invaluable to our clients and attorneys. His dedication to client service is a perfect fit with our culture.  In addition, his expertise in representing employers doing business with various federal, state and local government agencies should be an ideal complement to the firm’s nationally renowned Government Contracts practice.”

Dodge commented, "I’m excited to join Sheppard Mullin. The firm has a top-notch employment practice. I’ve been particularly impressed with the strength and breadth of the firm’s diverse practice areas, which will greatly benefit my clients. The firm’s successful expansion and entrepreneurial culture were very attractive to me."

Dodge received a J.D. from William & Mary Law School in 1982 and a B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in 1979.

Sheppard Mullin has 70 attorneys based in its Washington, D.C. office. The firm's Labor and Employment practice includes 115 attorneys firmwide.

In June, Michael Paddock joined Sheppard Mullin’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Corporate practice group. Paddock joined from Pillsbury Winthrop.
