John D. Collins

John D. Collins is a partner in the Labor and Employment and Business Trial Practice Groups in the firm's Del Mar Heights office.

Areas of Practice

Mr. Collins has spent his entire legal career in San Diego, specializing in litigation/labor and employment matters exclusively on behalf of management. Mr. Collins combines extensive and successful jury trial experience with an established position as one of the area's leading labor-management advocates/negotiators.

He has been general labor counsel to a number of employer associations, including Associated Builders and Contractors of San Diego and Restaurant-Hotel Employers Council of San Diego (a multi-employer bargaining group). He has assisted literally hundreds of companies in maintaining or achieving non-union status. He also has extensive experience in negotiations and all other aspects of the collective bargaining relationship.

In the litigation area, he has more jury trial experience than most management labor lawyers. He has successfully handled many wrongful termination, discrimination, ERISA and other employment cases for a wide range of companies. He is an expert on unfair competition and trade secrets issues and has successfully litigated many cases in that area.
