Cookie and Advertising Policy

Cookie and Advertising Policy

We use cookies, which are small data files that are placed on the hard drive of your computer, tablet, smartphone or other device when you visit a website, and other tracking tools on our website and digital platforms. Some cookies are functional and enable additional functionality when a user accesses the website (e.g. allows users to save user preferences or language suggestions).  Other cookies are non-functional and allow the website and third parties to tailor messages and advertising relevant to a user’s interests.  When we refer to cookies, this includes other similar technologies such as pixel tags, or web beacons.

This policy describes how and why we use those tools. This policy also describes your choices.

Why We Use Tracking Tools
We use cookies and tracking tools for the following reasons:

  • To improve your experience on our sites and platforms.
  • To carry out research and statistical analysis to help improve our content, products and services.
  • To understand how visitors use our site. This includes navigating, scrolling, and looking at pages they access and content they open.

What Types of Cookies Do We Use?
We use the following types of cookies:

  • Required Cookies: Cookies that are required for you to operate and navigate our website, and use certain features. We store these cookies for the duration of your visit on our website.
  • Functional Cookies: Cookies that allow us to measure how you access and use our website, so we may improve performance.

What Information Is Processed
Our cookies and other tracking technologies will collect anonymized identification numbers to enable our website to recognize you as a repeat visitor and apply your settings, preferences you set on our website, actions you take on our website and your browsing history on our website.  Your data will be processed in the United States in accordance with our Privacy Policy here.

The information we obtain from our use of cookies may contain your personal data but only where you voluntarily provide it (e.g. by entering your email address into a subscriber box) or where you request services from us.  We will process your personal data for required cookies based on our legitimate interests.  For functional cookies, we will process your personal data based on your consent. For more information about how we process your personal information, obtain consent and how you may withdraw consent you can visit our Privacy Policy here.

Choices
You have choices about our tracking tools that are not required for our website to function. To opt out of behavioral advertising, click here. The choices you select are browser and device specific.  Some browsers can also be set to reject cookies.

Our Do Not Track Policy
Some browsers have a “do not track” feature. It lets you tell websites you visit that you do not want them to track your online activity. These features are not yet uniform across browsers. Our sites are thus not currently set up to respond to these signals.

For more information about the cookies we deploy, the purposes for which they are deployed, and how to control the use of cookies on your device, please see the table below.  You can also learn more about cookies and set cookies preferences at allaboutcookies.org, www.aboutads.info/choices/, and www.networkadvertising.org.

We use the following tracking tools

  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how you use our website. This includes looking at where a visitor comes from and where they go when they leave our site. Google provides an opt-out for this tool here.
  • Piwik: We use analytics from Piwik to understand how visitors use our digital platforms. Piwik states that users can opt out of their tracking tools by following the link in the Choices section above.

By continuing to browse on our website you consent to us deploying cookies as described in this policy. If you do not wish to accept cookies from our website, or would like to stop cookies being stored on your device in the future, you can change the settings or use the links provided above to decline and/or delete cookies. See the "Help" section your browser menu for guidance on how to do this. Note that changing cookie settings may affect certain features within this website.
