Areas of Practice

Ian practices in the area of complex real estate transactions, focusing on equity joint ventures, secured debt financings, acquisitions, dispositions and real estate development-related agreements. He has particular experience in the multifamily housing industry, having spent nearly a decade representing clients in connection with the capitalization, acquisition, development, operation, and disposition of apartment communities and mixed-use developments across the country. Ian also represents clients in the real estate-related aspects of merger and acquisition transactions and corporate real estate service matters.

• Represented a national multifamily real estate developer in connection with the acquisition of a project site and related density/development rights in Washington D.C., as well as a related joint venture with the original contract purchaser.
• Represented a national multifamily real estate developer in connection with the acquisition of a project site in Falls Church, Virginia.
• Represented a national multifamily real estate developer in connection with the acquisition of a project site in Washington D.C.
• Represented a Shanghai-based manufacturer of lithium-ion battery separator film in connection with its acquisition of a project site for the development of an 850,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Sidney, Ohio (total investment by the client in the facility is projected at $916 million).
• Represented a global automotive and industrial supplier in connection with its acquisition of a manufacturing facility in Strongsville, Ohio.
• Represented a national multifamily real estate developer in connection with the disposition of an apartment community in Austin, Texas.
