Jessica Meyers is a partner in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

Areas of Practice

Jessica's current practice focuses on defamation suits and lawsuits that implicate sensitive matters and demand an optics-oriented approach throughout the litigation. She also has experience litigating contract disputes, business-related torts, bankruptcy claims and defending businesses and individuals in the cryptocurrency space. Jessica has successfully tried multiple cases and is adept at utilizing procedural and evidentiary mechanisms to poise a case for successful resolution at any stage of litigation.

Jessica is also committed to pro bono work. She has successfully represented a minor seeking legal status in the United States, drafted an amicus brief relating to voting rights, represented a non-profit organization in responding to third-party subpoenas, and assisted individuals in sealing Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information.

Experience

Experience

  • Represented an American actor in his successful defamation suit against his ex-wife, which resulted in a $10.35 million judgment in his favor after a six-week jury trial.
  • Representing a private individual in a defamation suit against a major news television company and a political commentator, arising from statements made about the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. Defendants’ motion to dismiss was denied and the case settled.
  • Defended an American businessman and his basketball team in putative securities class action arising from alleged relationship with a cryptocurrency service provider.
  • Defended cryptocurrency services provider in putative securities class action suit and secured dismissal of all claims on successful motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction and failure to state a claim.
  • Successfully represented litigation trusts in action before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to enforce multimillion-dollar loan agreements approved in chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Successfully defended mutual fund against tortious interference claims in a two-week trial in the New York Supreme Court.
  • Represented an American chemical company in prosecuting multibillion-dollar claims against former owner during a three-week trial in the Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York.
  • Represented financial institutions prosecuting causes of action in New York Supreme Court, including claims for breach of loan agreements, fraudulent conveyance, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty.
  • Represented official and ad hoc creditor committees in prosecuting and settling multimillion-dollar claims against chapter 11 bankruptcy estates.
