Joshua Sturtevant is special counsel in the Real Estate, Energy, Land Use & Environmental Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

Josh focuses his practice on corporate and development matters in the energy sector.
He represents buyers and sellers in the acquisition and disposition of development stage and operating energy generation and storage projects and represents joint venture partners in both the formation and dissolution stages as well as in joint bids. Josh represents developers and owners, including funds and regulated utilities, in the negotiation of power purchase agreements, engineering, procurement and construction agreements, equipment supply agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, shared facilities agreements, teaming arrangements and development services, construction management and asset management agreements, and he oversees due diligence on behalf of purchasers and financing parties.
Josh volunteers annually as a mentor with the Cleantech Open accelerator program and is an Adjunct member of the faculty in the Online Learning Program at Vermont Law School.
Experience
Experience
- Represented Avangrid Renewables in the sale of the Kitty Hawk North offshore wind project. The transaction included the sale of rights to a federal lease area of 40,000 acres, associated interconnection and other development assets.
- Represented the buyer in the acquisition of two utility scale solar projects in Minnesota totaling approximately 220 MW.
- Represented the investors in corporate, offtake and development contract diligence on over 1.5 GW of closed tax equity transactions involving solar, storage and wind.
- Represented a partner in an offshore wind joint venture restructuring.
- Represented a foreign-based fund in an “inside outside counsel” role in relation to the acquisition and construction of a battery energy storage project in California.
- Represented the investor member in a develop joint venture restructuring.
- Represented a joint venture partner in a reimbursement of venture interests.
- Represented the buyer in the acquisition of a 50% joint venture interest in three solar projects located in Arizona, California and Nevada.
- Represented the buyer in the acquisition of a 240 MW project in Illinois.
- Represented the buyer in the acquisition of a 38 MW operating wind project located in Pennsylvania.
