Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that partner Christopher Van Gundy has joined the firm’s Food and Beverage Industry Team in San Francisco. He was recently a partner at Keller and Heckman LLP. Van Gundy follows on the addition of Allison Fulton, an experienced FDA partner, who joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office in January of this year.

“Chris has an outstanding background in the food and beverage industry,” said Sascha Henry, Leader of the firm’s Food and Beverage Industry Team. “I’ve known him for a number of years and have co-chaired the upcoming CLE International Food Law Conference with him for the last four years. He has a sterling reputation and his recent focus on novel food and beverage products and CBD and cannabis makes him one of the industry innovators.”

Commenting on Chris’ addition, Robert Beall, Sheppard Mullin’s co-managing partner, said, “Chris is a key strategic addition to our food and beverage team. We have a fantastic multidisciplinary group representing some of the country’s leading food and beverage companies. Chris’ deep experience with the industry’s various regulatory bodies will be of great interest to our clients.”

Van Gundy represents food and beverage clients involving class actions, general commercial disputes, regulatory advice (including FDA, USDA, state and local regulation), insurance issues, and trademark litigation. He also counsels companies on labeling and regulatory compliance with federal, state and local law for CBD/cannabis products. Van Gundy received his A.B., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Brown University and his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley. Following law school, Van Gundy clerked for the Hon. Spencer Williams, U.S. Dist. Ct., San Jose.

Sheppard Mullin has more than 90 attorneys in San Francisco and the firm’s Food and Beverage Industry Team has 100 lawyers in 11 offices around the country, representing more than 200 food and beverage clients.
