San Francisco Partner at Sheppard Mullin Noted Among World's Leading Shipping and Maritime Lawyers

Euromoney Legal Media Group has selected Charles S. Donovan, a Finance and Bankruptcy partner in the San Francisco office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, to appear in The 2004 Guide to the World's Leading Shipping & Maritime Lawyers. Euromoney stated that Donovan received an "exceptional" number of nominations placing him in the top ten U.S. lawyers based on individual nominations for the Guide.

Donovan's practice focuses on international and domestic finance with particular emphasis on transportation matters. He has extensive experience in negotiation of international agreements, and in international arbitration and litigation. Donovan has lectured and written on topics relating to international law, admiralty and cross-border leasing issues.

Donovan is admitted to practice in California, Louisiana and Massachusetts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He teaches as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern California Law Center. Donovan serves as an Early Neutral Evaluator in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program of the United States District Court in San Francisco. He has held several leadership positions in the ABA and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Donovan has chaired the ABA TIPS Committee on Admiralty and Maritime Law, the MLA Subcommittee on Liens and Mortgages and the MLA Criminal Law Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the International Bar Association, the Union Internationale des Avocats, and the Permanent Advisory Board of the Tulane Admiralty Institute.
