Sheppard Mullin Adds Securities Litigator In San Francisco
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua Hess has joined the firm’s Business Trial practice group and Securities Enforcement & Litigation team in San Francisco. Hess joins from Dechert LLP, where he was a partner. His arrival marks a strategic expansion of Sheppard Mullin’s securities and antitrust litigation capabilities in Northern California.
Hess’ national litigation practice focuses on securities litigation, with a particular emphasis on defending asset managers in class action litigation, white collar and shareholder litigation, internal investigations and civil and criminal price-fixing cases. He regularly represents companies, boards and individuals in high-stakes shareholder disputes and corporate governance litigation in Delaware courts and across the country. Over the course of his career, Hess has represented major financial institutions, investment firms and public companies in complex commercial and regulatory disputes. His experience includes leading internal investigations, defending clients in SEC enforcement matters, litigating cases involving securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, antitrust conspiracy and corporate governance issues.
“Josh is a nationally recognized litigator with deep expertise in securities law,” said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. “His arrival supports our vision to grow our high-end securities and commercial litigation team in Northern California and nationally. His demonstrated successes in the courtroom, paired with deep asset management experience, make him a standout addition to our firm.”
“Josh’s litigation strengths align directly with our Business Trial group’s focus areas,” added Sascha Henry, co-leader of Sheppard Mullin’s Business Trial practice group. “His track record representing financial institutions and defending corporate governance matters nationwide enhances our strategic depth and complements our class action litigation framework and will further strengthen our Securities Enforcement & Litigation industry team.”
“Sheppard Mullin offers the ideal foundation to collaborate with top-tier litigators and expand my practice at the intersection of securities and corporate governance,” said Hess. “Given the firm’s strong reputation for litigation in California, I’m excited to contribute to its dynamic litigation group and help clients navigate their most complex legal challenges.”
He earned his B.A., cum laude, from Columbia University, where he was a Surdna Foundation Scholar, and his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a Philip Hart/Ralph J. Gilbert Scholar.
