Litigation Partner Mark Slater Rejoins Firm's San Francisco Office
12.01.2008

Mark K. Slater has rejoined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the Business Trial practice group, based in the firm's San Francisco office.  Slater most recently served as senior vice president, North American Legal Services at Ingram Micro, Inc.

Slater's practice includes all facets of business litigation and trials, both jury and bench, including disputes concerning privately held companies, software development, finance disputes, and real property disputes.  He has won groundbreaking decisions in insurance coverage for technology losses and indemnity for intellectual property actions, as well as handled a variety of IP disputes.

At Ingram Micro, Slater supervised litigation and managed pre-litigation matters throughout the U.S.  He also directed internal investigations, intellectual property disputes, securities matters, tax disputes, and labor matters.  Slater oversaw a significant legal budget and a staff of lawyers and contract professionals.  He negotiated national and international acquisitions and contracts, including global distribution and outsource contracts.

"We're pleased to welcome Mark back to the firm.  His technology specialization is complementary to our existing strength throughout the firm in this sector.  We continue to grow core practices like litigation, and Mark's industry knowledge, coupled with his in-house and law firm experience, is of great value to clients," said Guy Halgren, chairman of the firm.

Commented Slater, "Sheppard Mullin is a top-notch firm and I'm looking forward to returning to private practice in San Francisco.  I have a long history with Sheppard Mullin, as both a partner and a client, and I look forward to again working with my good friends at the firm to continue to expand the litigation practice."

Slater received a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law in 1987 and a B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1983.
