Tiago Aquino is an associate in the Entertainment, Technology and Advertising Practice Group in the firm's Century City office.

Areas of Practice 

Tiago’s practice covers a variety of transactional entertainment matters throughout the life cycle of motion pictures, television programs and podcasts.

Over the last several years, Tiago has represented Amazon Studios on the development, production and distribution of numerous projects in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. His work includes handling major first look and overall agreements, sports-related transactions, rights acquisitions and talent agreements.

Tiago has been the bridge between Hollywood and Latin America on numerous projects, including 2023 Oscar-nominated “Argentina, 1985.”

Tiago also advises Spotify on original and exclusive podcasts in Latin America and is responsible for negotiating agreements with the main content creators in the region.

Professional and Educational Background

Tiago is licensed in California and Brazil. The start of his career in the entertainment industry was as an associate at a Brazilian elite law firm where he represented media conglomerates in connection with the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in addition to working on mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters in the media space.

Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Tiago had an independent practice in Brazil supporting streaming platforms and studios with the development, production and distribution of original content in Latin America.

Tiago received his LL.M. (Master of Laws) from UC Berkeley School of Law and his LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil.

In his spare time, Tiago enjoys outdoor activities in Los Angeles and mixing electronic music.
