Daniel Kim is a special counsel in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

Areas of Practice

Daniel is an experienced trial lawyer specializing in patent matters across various technical fields. He has represented both foreign and domestic clients in high-stakes intellectual property disputes in multiple jurisdictions, including federal district courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States International Trade Commission. Daniel has extensive experience at all stages of litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal, and has managed day-to-day activities of large-scale litigations.

Daniel is a native Korean speaker and earned his B.S.E. degree from Duke University with dual majors in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering.

  • Firstface v. Samsung Electronics (EDTX): representing Samsung in a five-patent suit concerning mobile devices.
  • A Global Leader in Consumer Electronics (EDTX): successfully represented the client in a twelve-patent suit concerning LCD display technology.
  • A Global Leader in Automotive Component Manufacturer (DDE): successfully defended the client in a multi-patent dispute relating to electronic components within automotive vehicles.
  • A Global Leader in Consumer Electronics (WDTX): representing the client in a 10-patent litigation involving Wi-Fi wireless down conversion technologies.
  • A Global Leader in Automotive Component Manufacturer: advised the client in revamping its IP and trade secret policies.
  • A Global Leader in Consumer Electronics (CDCA): successfully dismissed a patent infringement complaint asserting patents relating to HVAC system.
  • A Global Leader in Feed Additives (ITC, SDNY, CAFC): successfully defended parallel ITC and district court litigations brought by a market-leading competitor, asserting two patents relating to genetically-modified bacteria.
  • A Global Leader in Medical Technology (DDE): successfully defended the client in a multi-patent suit concerning medical devices for disease inspection and diagnosis.
