Sheppard Mullin Represents The Coney as Land Use Counsel in New York Casino Bid
Sheppard Mullin represents The Coney as land use counsel in its bid to win one of three casino licenses in downstate New York to develop a casino and entertainment complex in the neighborhood of Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. The $3 billion investment is a partnership between Thor Equities, Global Gaming Solutions, LLC, Saratoga Casino Holdings and Legends Hospitality. The proposed development includes a casino and entertainment complex aiming to make the famed Brooklyn, New York, sea-side town a year-round attraction and revitalize the area. The Coney achieved two major milestones this past week, first submitting its bid for a casino license to the New York State Gaming Commission, and second, obtaining final approval for City Map changes at the City Council – both of which were years in the making. The next step in the process involves presentations before a Community Advisory Council (CAC) made up of local elected officials for each bid, which will convene over the next three months, before each CAC votes to determine whether the bids move on to the final round.
Sheppard Mullin New York land use partner Jodi Stein led the team along with associate Eva Schneider.
