Sheppard Mullin Expands Investment Management And Private Equity Teams With Fund Formation Partner Graham McCall

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that partner Graham McCall has joined the firm’s Corporate practice group and Private Equity industry team in Dallas. McCall most recently served as a partner in Jackson Walker’s Fund Formation and Investment Management group.

McCall’s arrival marks another significant step in the strategic expansion of the firm’s Investment Management and Private Equity teams. He is the 14th partner to join the Corporate practice group in recent months, following Douglas Swill, Megan Rooney, Michael Wilson, Adam Marks, Thomas DeSplinter, Alex Schwartz and Linas Grikis in Chicago; Tammy Woffenden and Ashley Wheelock in Houston; Stephanie Marcantonio and Michael Malfettone in New York; and Todd Rosenberg and Sarah Kahn in Washington, D.C. His distinguished fund formation and investment management experience reinforce the firm's exceptional reputation for structuring complex transactions for sponsors, managers and institutional investors.

McCall advises alternative asset managers on all aspects of private fund creation, offerings and ongoing operations, spanning a range of liquid, illiquid and hybrid private fund vehicles and separate accounts as well as the structuring of related upper tier management entities. He represents institutional sponsors, registered investment advisers, exempt reporting advisers, independent sponsors and commodity pool operator and commodity trading advisors entities. His expertise spans multiple strategies and asset classes, including hedge, private equity, private credit, commodities, real estate, energy, digital assets, venture capital and fund-of-funds.

McCall previously served as vice president and assistant general counsel for the asset management division at Goldman Sachs where he advised portfolio managers and trading desks on key regulatory and documentation issues in derivatives. He also worked at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, providing him with a deep grounding in other important regulatory and compliance frameworks.

“Graham’s experience and deep industry knowledge allow us to continue to expand our growing Private Equity team and strengthens our ability to assist our sponsor clients with broader service offerings in the fund formation and investment manager space,” said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. “Graham expands our corporate practice capabilities, not just in Dallas, but across the country, as we advise clients on sophisticated transactions across the core industries in which we focus.”

Adam Shipley, co-leader of the firm’s Corporate practice group, added, “As we see continued demand from our private equity clients, especially in fund formation, Graham’s keen understanding of the complex issues facing fund sponsors, managers and institutional investors, combined with his experience guiding clients through the regulatory issues, will be an asset to our clients.”

“I am excited to join Sheppard Mullin. The firm has a reputation for excellence and is committed to building a first-class investment management practice. I am confident my clients will benefit from the firm’s national, full-service platform and specialized resources as we help them solve their most pressing issues,” added McCall.

McCall received his B.B.A., with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D., magna cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law.
