Sheppard Mullin Continues Intellectual Property Practice Growth With Partner Thomas M. Hadid

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Intellectual Property partner Thomas M. Hadid has joined the firm in Los Angeles. He joins from Morrison Foerster.

Hadid is a nationally recognized trademark attorney with extensive experience managing global trademark portfolios for clients across a range of industries, including consumer products, fashion and technology. His practice focuses on designing comprehensive brand-protection programs and advising clients on every stage of brand protection—from clearance and selection of new marks to prosecution, enforcement and anti-counterfeiting strategies. He also represents clients in contentious trademark matters before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board and in federal courts.

“Tom is a widely respected trademark lawyer with a strong track record guiding clients through complex brand issues,” said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. “His experience across all aspects of trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement fits perfectly with our strategic focus on expanding our intellectual property capabilities for domestic and global clients.”

Hadid’s arrival continues the growth of Sheppard Mullin’s Intellectual Property practice. In September, the firm welcomed a 21-attorney IP litigation team from Ropes & Gray including former practice group chair Steven Pepe and partners David Chun, Jim Davis, Kevin Post and Matthew Shapiro. Earlier this year, IP partners David Fournier, Allison Glasunow and Kourtney Mueller Merrill joined from Perkins Coie. Today, Sheppard Mullin’s Intellectual Property practice comprises more than 135 lawyers worldwide, nearly half of whom hold advanced technical degrees.

“We have intentionally grown our Intellectual Property practice to meet client demand across technology, consumer products and other innovation-driven sectors,” said Wynter Deagle co-leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. “Tom adds depth to our trademark practice and enhances our ability to help clients build, protect and maximize the value of their brands.”

“I’m thrilled to join Sheppard Mullin’s Intellectual Property team and collaborate with such a talented group of lawyers,” said Hadid. “The firm’s platform will allow me to better support clients as they develop, protect and grow their brands in a rapidly evolving global market.”

Hadid received a B.A. from the University of Southern California and his J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.
