11.01.2016

Steven P. Hollman has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the firm’s Business Trial practice group.  Hollman joins from Hogan Lovells where he was co-leader of the firm’s False Advertising and Unfair Competition practice group.

"Steve is a highly respected trial lawyer with an impressive track record.  His background and expertise are an excellent addition to our Business Trial group in Washington, D.C.  Steve’s keen understanding of various intellectual property and false advertising challenges facing companies makes him a great asset and valued member of our existing team of talented litigators," said Guy N. Halgren, chairman of Sheppard Mullin.

"I am thrilled to join Sheppard Mullin and rejoin partners Gardner Gillespie, Paul Werner and Dave Thomas with whom I previously practiced at Hogan Lovells.  I am particularly impressed with the firm’s collegial and entrepreneurial spirit, team approach to client work, and focus on client service, as well as its consistent growth year-over-year," Hollman stated.

A trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, Hollman focuses on complex commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation.  Hollman has handled more than 60 trials and contested evidentiary proceedings, including first chair jury trials in patent, trademark and advertising cases, as well as successful section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Hollman has extensive experience handling labeling and advertising disputes for major food and beverage companies, including class action advertising litigation, and for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies.

Hollman has a deep commitment to pro bono efforts, regularly taking on a broad range of civil rights and constitutional law cases. Hollman received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. (magna cum laude) from Harvard College.  He is a past president of the Federal Claims Bar Association, a former member of the Board of Governors of the Maryland Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and currently co-chairs the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.

The arrival of Hollman is another milestone in the growth of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.  In the past 12 months, Business Trial and Cybersecurity partner Laura Jehl joined from public affairs firm Levick; Corporate partner Michael Paddock joined from Pillsbury Winthrop; Labor & Employment partner Garen Dodge joined from Jackson Lewis; Government Contracts and Healthcare partner Bob Rhoad joined from Crowell & Moring; and Government Contracts and Cybersecurity partner Jonathan Meyer joined from the Department of Homeland Security.
