Sheppard Mullin Awards Lindsay Stone As The 2017 Pro Bono Attorney Of The Year

12.29.2017

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce today that it has awarded associate Lindsay Stone the firm’s 2017 Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award, which honors and recognizes a Sheppard Mullin attorney who has demonstrated a significant commitment to helping those in need.  Stone, a 2015 graduate of Fordham University School of Law, is based in the firm’s New York office and is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group.

Stone recorded over 200 hours on pro bono cases on a variety of diverse and important matters, including: (i) two asylum cases, on behalf of a Guinean man who was repeatedly imprisoned and tortured on the basis of his political opinion, and a teenager who was forced to flee from her home in El Salvador after she was targeted for abduction by a local gang, (ii) representing a victim of domestic violence against a harassing litigation brought by her former husband, (iii) assisting with groundbreaking lawsuits challenging the inaccessibility of New York City’s subway system for people with disabilities, (iv) assisting Real Dog Rescue, a New Jersey organization focused on saving homeless dogs, in setting up policies and procedures to begin the process of adoption, and (v) providing employment counseling and/or litigation assistance to the following non-profit organizations that provide important services to the community: Girls Who Invest, No Longer Empty, Business Outreach Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Lenox Hill Neighborhood House.

“Sheppard Mullin could not be prouder of Lindsay’s pro bono work this year. She has helped so many people and organizations in need of pro bono assistance while carrying a heavy billable work load. Lindsay is a role model for all of our attorneys, championing the firm’s desire that its attorneys give back to the communities in which they live, while honing their legal skills through pro bono work,” said Dan Brown, Sheppard Mullin’s Pro Bono Partner.

Stone remarked “The most amazing part of being an attorney at Sheppard Mullin is its commitment to our communities and those who are less fortunate. The firm provides so many opportunities to assist the many individuals and organizations that need, but cannot afford, legal representation. I am truly grateful to have been able to help individuals improve their lives and organizations who do the hard work of making the world a better place. I am truly honored to play a role in Sheppard Mullin’s amazing contributions to the communities that we serve.”

Sheppard Mullin's Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award is the firm’s highest pro bono honor, recognizing and rewarding the important community service work done by Sheppard Mullin attorneys. The award is named in honor and memory of Bob Gerber, the founder of Sheppard Mullin’s pro bono program and its leader for over a decade.
