Sheppard Mullin Helps Veterans Access Pro Bono Legal Services

New Partnership Combines Market-Leading Technology with Commitment to Veterans
07.07.2021

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is proud to announce an innovative new partnership that will provide veterans with easier access to pro bono legal services.  Working with Stretto, a bankruptcy technology and case-management services firm, Sheppard Mullin will use Best Case by Stretto software to help manage the workflow surrounding how the firm provides pro bono legal services to veterans.  Stretto’s case management platform is provided at no cost for veteran’s cases.

“Veterans face myriad challenges and have a variety of legal needs,” said John Drdek, Sheppard Mullin associate and member of Veterans at Sheppard. “Stretto’s software will allow us to more efficiently and effectively help veterans navigate the complexities of the legal issues they face.”

Dan Brown, Sheppard Mullin’s Pro Bono Partner, added, “Supporting veterans through various initiatives and pro bono projects is something we are very passionate about here at Sheppard Mullin.  Having a technology platform that helps us communicate and manage their legal needs will allow us to better serve our veteran clients.”

“Stretto is pleased to partner with Sheppard Mullin in meeting veterans’ diverse legal needs,” said Jonathan Carson, Stretto’s co-CEO. “We are committed to facilitating and simplifying the bankruptcy process for all parties.”

Earlier this year, the Veterans Legal Institute (VLI) announced that Sheppard Mullin would receive the 2021 Law Firm of the Year award for launching a pro bono partnership providing legal assistance to veterans in need throughout Southern California.  This new partnership with Stretto will build on that initiative, further enhancing Sheppard Mullin’s capabilities to provide pro bono legal services to veterans.

Veterans At Sheppard is an affinity group that strives to positively impact the veteran community by encouraging Sheppard Mullin attorneys and staff to participate in pro bono projects that serve veterans and their families; foster the success and development of veterans in the legal field; lead outreach initiatives to serve veterans in the community; raise awareness of topics, experiences and skills unique to veterans; participate in job fairs and events designed to integrate veterans into the workforce; and partner with clients and other organizations to serve the needs of veterans.
