Overview

Dr. Jing Liu is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's San Diego (Del Mar) office.

Areas of Practice

Jing focuses her practice on patent prosecution, counseling on patent infringement and validity issues, clearance investigation, management of patents and other intellectual property assets, intellectual property due diligence studies and licensing agreements and strategies for life sciences companies.

Jing represents U.S.-based and foreign clients to protect their innovations in a wide range of life science-related technological areas, including biotechnology (i.e., biologic therapeutics, oncology, gene therapy, microbiome-based technologies and genomics and bioinformatics), pharmaceuticals (i.e., new drugs and drug repurposing), chemicals, aesthetics and personal care products and nanotechnology. She firmly believes that successful IP strategies must support the underlining business objectives of the clients, whether individual inventors, academic institutions, startups or multinational corporations.

Jing received her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2005 for work related to computational genomics and evolutionary classification of viruses of bacteria and archaea.
