Marc Chatenay-Lapointe is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's San Diego (Del Mar) office.

Areas of Practice

Marc’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, patent infringement and validity investigation, and clearance studies in the life sciences sector. Marc utilizes successful IP strategies to support the underlining business objectives of his clients, whether they are academic institutions, multinational corporations, emerging and fast growing companies, or investors. He protects the innovations of clients in a wide range of life sciences spaces, including microbiome-based therapeutics, diagnostics, oncology, genomics, aesthetics and personal care products, and nanotechnology.

Marc brings to bear his extensive scientific knowledge and research experience from his doctoral studies when assisting his clients. Prior to attending New York University School of Law, he earned his Ph.D. in Genetics from Yale University and his B.S. in Microbiology from University of Rhode Island. His doctoral research employed a multidisciplinary approach to elucidate signal transduction pathways that govern mitochondrial metabolism and chronological aging. Marc’s dual legal and scientific expertise enable him to provide tailored services and implement strategies for optimal protection of his clients’ interests and intellectual property.
