Sheppard Mullin Lands Leading Health Care Attorney, Maureen E. Corcoran

Maureen E. Corcoran has joined the San Francisco office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner. Corcoran, most recently with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in San Francisco and former chair of the firm's Health Care practice group, joins the Healthcare team as a member of the Corporate practice group. Corcoran focuses in the practice of health care law. She advises on the full range of legal issues arising in the health care industry. Corcoran's transactional and regulatory practice includes developing and implementing corporate compliance programs; counseling on fraud and abuse, and physician self-referrals (Stark law). Additionally, Corcoran provides general corporate and transactional advice to health care companies, including non-profits. She has represented a wide range of health industry clients, including managed care plans, hospitals, pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, physician organizations, ambulatory surgical centers, medical device companies, management services organizations, imaging facilities and community clinics, among others. Corcoran also advises health plans on issues related to fiduciary duty and ERISA regulatory matters. Corcoran has previously served as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Education prior to joining the firm. She also served as Special Assistant to the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
