Areas of Practice
Paul helps clients protect their innovations during IP procurement and beyond. With advanced training in life sciences as well as computer science, Paul is a go-to person for complex and inter-disciplinary technologies. Clients entrust him with securing patent protections in the areas of genomics, bioinformatics and personalized medicine – ranging from multiomics data collection, processing, analysis and visualization and next-generation sequencing technologies to disease diagnosis and treatment.
Paul works extensively on platform biotechnologies, such as flow cytometry, mass spectrometry and microfluidics. He also is experienced in big data mining and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning – including computer vision, autonomous driving, augmented reality and product recommendations – and blockchain, cryptocurrency, user interface, computer security, database, image processing and ridesharing.
Beyond IP procurement, Paul works with clients on validity and invalidity analyses, infringement studies, IP due diligence investigations, clearance investigations and licensing agreements and strategies. He firmly believes that successful IP strategies must support the underlining business objectives of the clients, whether individual inventors, academic institutions, startups or multinational corporations.
